Albania banned gambling outright in 2019 and closed the betting shops, which had been on nearly every street. Online sports betting was then re-legalised in February 2024, and the last of the secondary rules was adopted during 2026. The catch is that a framework is not a market: as of late August 2026 the licensing competition had not been opened and no licensed online operator had launched, so the legal route exists on paper and nowhere else yet. Betting shops stay banned regardless, and the framework caps online licences at ten nationwide. Where that process has reached matters more here than any brand comparison, since until it finishes there is no licensed online operator to compare against.
