StrategyCrash Bankroll Maths: Why Speed, Not Stake Size, Empties Accounts

No staking pattern beats a house edge, and the systems side of that argument is covered elsewhere. This article is about the part you do control, and about one number that most crash players never calculate.
Turnover per Hour Is the Real Cost
The major titles publish RTPs in the 96% to 97% range, so the game keeps roughly 3% to 4% of everything wagered over a long sample. Note the wording: of everything wagered. Not of your deposit.
That distinction is where crash differs from slower games. Rounds last seconds, so 200 or more bets in an hour is entirely ordinary. On a 100-unit bankroll at the common 1% to 2% guideline, that is 200 to 400 units of hourly turnover — up to four times the bankroll passing through the game in sixty minutes. At a 3% edge, the expected hourly cost lands somewhere around 6 to 12 units.
Halving the stake roughly halves that and doubles how long the same money lasts. Nothing else you can do moves the number as much, which is why stake size is the only lever worth arguing about.
Limits That Actually Get Followed
- Time cap of 30 to 60 minutes, with an alarm set outside the app. Fast rounds distort time perception badly, and this is not a small effect.
- Loss cap as a fixed slice of the bankroll, commonly 20% to 30% per session. When it's gone the session is over, however due a big multiplier feels.
- Win cap. Pick a number where you stop while ahead. Giving a win back in the same session is one of the most common patterns in fast games and one of the most avoidable.
- Operator tools. Deposit limits, loss limits and reality-check reminders are enforced by the platform, which makes them far harder to talk yourself out of at 1am than a rule you set for yourself.
A bankroll, to be clear, is money set aside for betting and fully separate from rent, food and savings — money you could lose entirely without consequence. Decide the monthly amount, keep it apart, and never top up mid-session. A stop-loss you can refill is not a stop-loss.
Auto Cash-Out as a Discipline Tool
Setting an automatic exit at a fixed multiplier does not improve your odds; expectation is the same at 1.5x, 2x or 10x. What it removes is the in-the-moment decision, and that is where discipline usually breaks.
Worth knowing the shape of it: in standard crash maths a 2.00x auto cash-out wins slightly less than half the time. The gap between that and a true coin flip is the house edge, and an equivalent gap exists at every target you could pick.
A Worked Session
- Bankroll for the month: 200. Session budget: 50.
- Stake: 2 flat, auto cash-out at 2.00x.
- Hard stops: minus 50, plus 50, or 45 minutes — whichever arrives first.
- Log the result in a notes app before closing the game.
Those numbers illustrate structure, not profit. The logging step matters more than it looks: a written record is the fastest cure for the selective memory that keeps losing players convinced they're about even.
The traps that undo all of it are predictable. Chasing a "due" multiplier, when rounds are independent and ten crashes below 1.5x tell you nothing about the eleventh. Paid signal and predictor groups, whose business model is your subscription fee plus, often, an affiliate cut of your losses. And topping up mid-session, which quietly deletes every limit above it.
None of this tilts the maths. It caps the damage, extends playtime per deposit, and keeps decisions out of the moments where the worst ones get made. 18+.

FAQ
How much should one crash bet be?+
A common guideline is 1% to 2% of your bankroll. Because rounds are so fast, smaller stakes matter more here than in slower games — the edge applies to everything you turn over per hour, not to your deposit.
Is auto cash-out better than cashing out manually?+
Expected return is identical at any target. Auto cash-out is valuable because it removes the in-the-moment decision, which is where most players break their own rules.
Why does session speed matter so much in crash games?+
Because the house edge applies to turnover. Two hundred rounds an hour means your whole bankroll can pass through the game several times in a session, and the edge is charged on all of it.
