StrategyLoL Objective Markets: Betting the Map, Not the Killfeed

A kill in League buys you time. An objective buys you the map, and it does not expire when the enemy respawns. That is the whole reason objective markets deserve more attention than the kill total, and it is also why an even scoreline can sit on top of a game that is already decided.
Dragons compound, which changes how you bet them
Elemental drakes stack, and enough of them turn into a soul that lasts the rest of the game. The betting consequence is that dragon control is not a series of independent events. The team that establishes river vision and jungle tempo tends to keep taking them, so first dragon correlates with total dragons considerably more than an even-money market implies.
Total dragons behaves differently by game shape. Long, scaling games accumulate them. A fast stomp finishes before they matter. If your read is one-sided and quick, that read belongs on the under regardless of which team you happen to like.
Watch for a team on soul point. That is no longer a neutral objective, it is a scheduled teamfight, and both sides know it.
Baron is about conversion, not the kill
Baron empowers minions and opens a siege window. Markets offer first Baron and total Barons, and both get bet as though taking Baron is the achievement.
It is not. Using it is. A team that takes Baron while behind, or with two members dead, regularly fails to convert it, and a disciplined defence can stall the buff out entirely. Before an attempt, look at the numbers advantage and whether summoner spells are up on the defending side. That tells you more about whether towers follow than the Baron itself does.
Contested Barons are close to coin flips decided by one smite. Price them accordingly, which mostly means not pricing them.
Towers are the honest scoreboard
First tower rewards early lane and jungle pressure, and the plating gold available in the opening minutes makes it worth more than its position on the map suggests.
Total towers is the market most likely to be mispriced, because it climbs non-linearly. A game sits at four or five towers for a long stretch and then produces six in three minutes once somebody has a soul or a Baron lead. Betting the over on a game you expect to snowball is a completely different proposition from betting the over on a game you expect to stay close.
First inhibitor is the closest thing on the board to a proxy for the match result. Price it like one.
Live, and the limits
Objective markets are at their best in-play, because the map state moves faster than the prices, and respawn timers make the next objective genuinely predictable. A team three kills up with a wave crashing has a nearly free take.
But every objective is one misplayed fight from flipping, and Riot rebalances the timings and rewards regularly. Check what the current patch actually does before trusting a read built on a previous one. Objective changes are the most common patch note that quietly invalidates a market opinion.
And do not bet against a team out of irritation that they just threw. Tilt is not an edge, and neither is watching somebody else's.

FAQ
What is the most beginner-friendly LoL objective market?+
First tower or first dragon are good starting points, because they resolve early and map directly to which team is winning lanes and controlling the jungle. They are simpler to read than totals, which depend on how long the whole game runs. Start small while you learn how each market behaves.
Why does Baron matter so much for betting?+
The Baron buff empowers a team's nearby minions and lets them siege several towers at once, so it is often the objective that converts a lead into a win. That is why first Baron and the play right after it are watched so closely in live markets, though a Baron taken while behind can still be wasted.
