The Dutch market opened in October 2021 and has been tightening every year since. Since 1 October 2024 there are hard deposit limits - 700 euro a month for players over 24, 300 euro for 18 to 24 year olds - and hitting one triggers an affordability check rather than a warning message. Untargeted gambling advertising has been prohibited since July 2023.

The regulator's own follow-up is unusually candid: the share of players depositing above those limits fell from 9.7% to 2.2% within months and average loss per account dropped, but the KSA also warned that the heaviest spenders may simply have moved to unlicensed sites. In June 2026 the government announced plans to ban online gambling advertising and bonuses outright, which still needs legislation. Play only with a KSA-licensed operator; none is listed here.
