Crypto is not really one payment method. It is a family of them that happen to share a single tab in the cashier. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and dollar-pegged tokens such as USDT and USDC behave differently on price, on speed and on cost, and one token can behave differently again depending on which network you send it over. Reading that tab as a single option is how deposits get lost.

Three decisions, not one

1. Which asset. A stablecoin holds its dollar value while a withdrawal is pending; BTC or ETH do not, which quietly adds a second bet on top of the one you meant to place.
2. Which network. Fees and confirmation times are properties of the chain, not of the sportsbook. The same USDT costs a rounding error on TRON and can cost real money on Ethereum when the network is busy.
3. Who holds the balance. Some books credit you in the coin; others convert to fiat or to a stablecoin on arrival and convert back when you cash out. That one line in the terms decides whether the market moves your bankroll while you bet.

The part that cannot be undone

A cashier hands you an address for one specific coin on one specific network. Send the right token over the wrong chain, or paste an address belonging to a different asset, and no support desk can reverse it, because there is nothing to reverse: the transfer settled exactly as instructed. Copy addresses rather than retyping them, pick the network on the wallet screen and the cashier screen deliberately, and send a small test the first time you use a site.

Acceptance and legality are separate questions

Whether a site takes crypto is the operator's decision. Whether you may pay with it is your country's. Brazil is the clearest illustration: Portaria Normativa SPA/MF no 615/2024 does not include crypto assets among the payment methods a licensed Brazilian operator may accept, so a site offering coins to Brazilian players is operating outside that licence by definition.

Turkey draws the sharpest line

The Turkish central bank's Regulation on the Disuse of Crypto Assets in Payments (Official Gazette no 31456, 16 April 2021, in force 30 April 2021) prohibits using crypto assets to pay for goods and services and bars payment and e-money institutions from intermediating those transfers. Holding or trading is a different question from paying. Several other markets tax or restrict crypto in ways that reach a betting bankroll, so check locally before you plan around it.
